Maria Glasscock is Executive Director of People at Selfridges, responsible for leading and developing Selfridges’ people strategies and has been with the company since 2012, where she first joined the HR team. Maria oversees the organisational culture, from D, E & I, recruitment, talent, reward, HR Systems, internal and external Communications. Maria is a trusted advisor to the business who works collaboratively with humility and integrity, helping Selfridges to achieve its purpose of reinventing retail whilst creating a sustainable future for everyone.
Maria’s career history has been widespread across the retail sector, starting out as HR Advisor for Boots, holding Human Resource roles within renowned companies such as B&Q and BidFood UK, before joining Selfridges in 2012 and becoming Executive Director, People in 2020. Within this time, Maria has honed her passion for supporting people in becoming their best selves, particularly women and those from underrepresented groups.
With over 12 years at Selfridges, Maria has championed inclusivity and diversity within the workplace and made long-lasting positive change by listening to the things that matter to team members and creating a culture where everyone is welcome.
